Directional Surveying & Steering

Well Search specialises in gyroscopic directional hole surveying and directional borehole control.

Our systems are fast, accurate and cost effective.

We use Gyroflex Northseeker Gyro – the smallest north seeking gyro on the market and eliminates the need for surface operations.

Well Search use VES Survey International Gyroflex Solid State (GS2). The GS2 represents the world’s first high accuracy solid state (MEMS) northseeking gyro survey tool.

North Seeking Gyroscopes and customized logging vehicles, Well Search can complete downhole directional surveys in both underground and surface mining and exploration operations to depths of 1900m.

North Seeking Gyroscopes establish True North, eliminating the requirement for survey pegs or reference bearings They are the most accurate, Gyroscopes currently in use in the mining industry. The tool is ideal for directional surveying in magnetically affected ground where conventional multi-shot surveys are unreliable

Equipment Specifications

Magnetic Survey Instrumentation

Integrated tilt-meters and 3-component magnetometers provide directional (dip and azimuth) information.
Can be used to vector off hole magnetic anomalies.

North Seeking Gyroscope

Provides the most accurate directional information (dip and azimuth) in both magnetic and non-magnetic environments.
Detects the starting position, removing the opportunity for user error. Allows for superior positional accuracy for precise 3D modelling of all borehole information.

Surface Surveying (DGPS)

DGPS (Differential GPS) is essentially a system to provide positional corrections to GPS signals. DGPS uses a fixed, known position to adjust real time GPS signals to eliminate pseudo range errors. An important point to note is that DGPS corrections improve the accuracy of position data only.
